Camp!
Last week, I talked about my plan to use VCT for the floor in our baby cabin. I found some nearby that I could get right away, but first, I reached out to a local flooring warehouse, I got a quote for $500 for the colors I wanted, and I would have to wait over a month for it to come in. I didn’t really want to wait that long to get this project started, so I had to figure something else out. Then I checked out my favorite store, Facebook Marketplace, duh. I found someone selling the tiles for $10 a box when I was about to pay nearly $100 a box! I wound up getting six boxes of deadstock vintage tiles for $60, and I am super happy with the colors I was able to snag. I couldn’t get full boxes of each color, so I had to get a little creative with the layout, which is totally fine. Here are the colors I have:
I made this layout in Photoshop, so I have a guide when we’re installing it:
Since this floor isn’t what I was planning on when I made my initial renderings, I added the new flooring in to see how it would look with everything else I have planned for the space. The only things I didn’t like were the pillows I had on the sofa and the green Kartell side table, so I made a couple of changes, and now I’m into it. Also, I don’t have the fabric for under the sink yet, and I have no idea what that is going to be. The checkered fabric is just a temporary stand-in. I also saw a really amazing sign for sale that is vintage and way out of my price range, but I might have to make that work for over the sofa. If I cave and buy it next week, I will add it to the rendering, but I’m not going to get my hopes up, lol.
Stay
I love seeing houses that I have posted for sale on Instagram over on Airbnb. It happens every now and then, and it thrills me to see them in all their glory! Alli bought this house after seeing one of my posts, and she jumped at the chance to have her own custom a-frame built from scratch. I have watched her create this lovely home over the past few years, and she just listed it on Airbnb for guests to enjoy.
