Baby’s First A-Frame

My son has been into riding his dirtbike for a couple of years, and he would normally just ride it in circles in the backyard (he’s 5), but recently we’ve been thinking about having more land for him to ride on. Long story short, last weekend we got a campsite at a campground with “thousands” of acres of trails to ride on. You have to buy a membership to ride, and with the membership, you have the opportunity to rent a campsite for the year. Luckily, while we were checking the place out last weekend an empty site opened up, and we snagged it. The site is about 35’x50’, the perfect size for a tiny little a-frame to live. A lot of people have campers on their sites, or they have some kind of structure like a shed to sleep in. There is a local company that prefabs sheds and then delivers them to your site, so I’m going to meet with them next week to see what they can build for me and keep you all updated along the way so you can see what it’s like to have an a-frame she-shed built.

Is an a-frame practical for this type of structure? N-O. Will I still be obsessed with it? 1,000%. In next week’s newsletter, I will talk more about the site and the different options we are thinking about as far as the layout and the size of the structure or if we should have more than one “shed” built. I’ve been playing with the interior of one that is 12’x20,’ and the peak of the ceiling is 10ft. I don’t know how high they can go with it since this is a prefabricated structure that will have to be moved after it is fully assembled. I also don’t know if they can put a skylight in it, which I think it will need. These are all things I will find out when I meet with the shed builders next weekend. I don’t know how to add a skylight in this design program I use, and it feels dark. Maybe by next week, I will figure out how to add a skylight so we can see the difference it makes.

I love looking at A-frames in different countries because it’s fun to see new styles that you don’t necisarrily see in the US too often. This Italian cottage is giving me life! The blue and white stiped awning, the hydrangias in the yard, the greens tones on the exterior trim and shutters. I love it all.
